Overview:

This is a 9 and 1/2 month Vocational Technical Educational Program extending from August through the following May. Completion of the Health Service Assistant Program students will be eligible to take the final exam offered by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Each Student passing the exam shall obtain a certificate from a state approved association or agency validating successful completion of the training program.
 
Program Breakdown:  

The Health Service Assistance program is broken down into four separate modules. The Following is a list of some but not all competencies per module.

Career Opportunities: The certified nurse assistant plays an integral part in the field of health. One must be prepared to assume responsibility in caring for the elderly and the ill. Opportunities for employment are available in nursing homes, hospitals, home health agencies, physicians offices, etc.

 Module 1 and 2: Performing Special Procedures, Measuring Vital Signs, Assisting with intake/Output, Administering Personal Hygiene and Comfort, Assisting with Ambulation and Movement, Performing Therapeutic Measures, Recognizing Concepts of Death and Dying.

Module 1 and 2: Health Services Assistant Duties and Tasks, Healthcare Delivery Skills, Communication and Observation Skills, Safety, Concepts of Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Life Stages, Core Procedures for the Healthcare Assistant.

Additional Information: The students are taken to healthcare facilities in the are that do clinical practice. Completion of the classroom activities and clinical hours the student is eligible to take the state CNA exam.
